Hanover Inn Dartmouth

  : Hanover Inn Dartmouth is directly across from Dartmouth College green and campus, at the corner of charming boutiques and casual eateries. It is a prime location for the college (for visiting parents and reunions) and also a nice location for anyone traveling for a medical appointment or to visit a patient at DHMC nearby. Having said this there is a feel of corporate-ness and our room, touted as having a 'campus view', while it faced campus direction across the green this was nothing to write home about (the brick side of the hotel with a single campus spire poking above a tree beyonder). Also, the toilet lid of our toilet when first lifted revealed itself to be completely off its hinges, something that housekeeping (which did a good but not great job) may have noticed and attended to before we checked in. Pine, the bar-restaurant is fine, with outdoor seating for nice weather. The food is very American; the service good but not genteel. We had a single drink at the bar with friends, then opted for room service. There were no apparent streaming options so bring your own Apple TV or HDMI cable if you'd like to watch a film.

  : Every single member of the staff was friendly and helpful. They made it very easy for us to have a relaxing weekend, despite being there for a memorial service.
  : Online descriptions of Pine were confusing - it looked like a prix-fixe, seven course meal type of restaurant. We were delighted to find that it was not! Also, the towels are getting a bit thin.
