  : I liked the location. It is at the heart of Moscow, real Moscow away from crowds of tourists (like Arbat) yet very central. Walking distance to the Red Square that can be seen through the kitchen window. Decent supermarkets, easy access by metro or bus on Sadovoye Koltso (direct bus to the New Tretyakov Gallery, walking distance to Bolshoi Theatre, Nikulin Circus, Tsum, Tverskaya Avenue, etc). Soaked in Russian history, especially Soviet period. The interior design is rather grim, mid-90s brown colours, broken worn out furniture. It smelt of cigarette smoke and I had to wash all surfaces, including walls to get rid of the stench and dust. It is functional but not pretty or cosy. It is noisy because of the traffic below, but it is inevitable in a big city. I liked the racket because we came from a smaller town to experience a bigger industrial city. However, Saturday and Sunday were rather peaceful and the traffic peters out between 11pm and 7am.I would say location is the biggest perk.
