  : Amazing location, great price for the bunkhouse. The pub was fantastic, with superb food and very friendly and helpful staff.
  : The kitchen facilities could do with a refresh, especially the frying pans and utensils. However, I was able to prepare my food without too much trouble.

  : The facilities adjacent to the room were really good, everything needed for our stay.
  : The room didn't have a window that could be opened, when we had six men in quite a small room, some fresh air would have ben nice.

  : This is basic accommodation at a reasonable price, which allows access to some great walks. Showers were hot and good pressure, and decent kitchen facilities and dining area if you're self-catering, which I was. If you can approach the mixed dorms situation with a sense of humour, and cope with sharing a very small space with others and all their belongings, then it provides a good base for great days out in the hills. I was lucky with fellow room-mates, and met some lovely people, but would suggest ear-plugs and an eye-mask! Accessible via bus from Keswick, currently 2 ask for Scales. I'm not sure how easy it would have been to get a bus back into Keswick though, as there didn't seem to be an official bus stop, and walkers' cars were parked in the lay-by that would have been the obvious place for a bus to pull in on a busy road.
  : Nowhere to dry wet clothes/boots. Miserable bar manager. Made a big deal of taking away the chair that I was sitting on and swapping it for a stool not really sure why, think he was trying to return furniture to its 'correct' position, which I would have been more than happy to do myself once I'd finished using it! Odd behaviour definitely not very hospitable and sadly put a bit of a dampener on what would otherwise have been a relatively pleasant stay.

  : Great location just below the approach to Blencathra on the A66, cheap bunkhouse rooms so great for a quick stop over or if youre caught short in the weather looking for a place to stay.
  : We found the Scottish guy with dreadlocks extremely rude with 0 customer service skills. We checked in and went to our room, came back for food and when we sat down he rudely went cant I help you. Didnt not feel very welcome to begin with. Before ordering the man stated that we have to order now or were not getting food as theyre just about to shut the kitchen, this was at 19:20, when the signage and website states the kitchen shuts at 20:00. We understand we arrived on a Sunday but there was only about 3/4 items that were on the menu so had to change what I had originally planned on getting. After taking our orders the man told us to basically move out the way because he didnt have time for us anymore and needed to serve the people behind us because he was in such a rush. The bunkhouse itself is convenient and I dont have any complaints, the food was quite nice but I suspect the veg was frozen. Personally if I was to come back, I would only stay at the bunkhouse and eat elsewhere, especially as it was quite expensive for what we actually received. However, my likelihood of returning is extremely low due to the extremely rude Scottish man!

  : It's a nice rural location and they are cheap dormitory (but private) rooms which are absolutely fine to stay in for a few nights... don't forget your own bedding
  : Well everything would have been fine except my one peaceful night was ruined since he chose to put a noisy pre-pubescent couple right next door to me, talking loudly and the rest until past 3am... Unlike them that night, I'm not really a moaner, but there was no need to do this as the whole row of rooms were empty... the walls are tracing paper thin so even earplugs didn't reduce the noise and I had to have music coming through my earphones all night just to drown them out... Also I didn't have any way to get the wifi code once the pub (office) was closed and you 100% need wifi as there is zero signal (not that the lack of signal is the pub's fault) so it's a good job I had music on my phone or I'd have been a reluctant aural voyeur all night.
