  : The building is beautiful and the staff were exceptionally helpful and responsive. The spa was also lovely. We went for a walk in the grounds, which are extensive, and saw deer grazing.Overall a lovely experience.
  : The restaurant was closed and the replacement 'snack menu' was very limited. Also, the service was slow, not because the staff weren't working hard but because there weren't enough of them.

  : I loved the pool, gym and jucuzi and the hotel staff were helpful and very friendly. My room was beautiful, had everything I needed and was cosy, warm and very comfortable. I enjoyed a good night's sleep but the heating was on full blast so I had to turn the radiator off as it was too hot. The gardens and lakes were beautiful, and we had a lovely sunny Sunday morning (following after storm Babet), so I made the most of their acres of land at the back of the hall. On the downside, the breakfast wasn't perfect and the coffee wasn't hot. The cereal was in boxed multi packs and I couldn't find the homemade granola anywhere! The continental breakfast was insufficient. In my beautiful courtyard room I ran out of the plastic sachets of milk, which was replaced with a small flask of fresh milk which I recommended they use going forward instead of the plastic sachets. There was enough cupboard space for a small fridge and/ or microwave which other, even much cheaper hotels, are providing now.
  : The location was difficult to get to/ from as it's out in the stix and without a Sunday bus service. The rest of the time it's fine and with a regular bus service into York city centre.

  : This was a special occasion and so we were happy to pay. It was expensive- with dinner and drinks the 2 nights came to over 700, but it was excellent and a great way to celebrate.
  : The " toppers" on teh beds ( under the bottom sheet) tended to make us too hot.
