  : Wasnt clean. Very dusty and work tops sticky. You could near people above us so no sound proofing. Was woken up at 6am by people above and then the last ight at 12.30am.

  : Staff were disorganised, didnt know where to find our booking on their system. Couldnt confirm they had sorted our parking zone (which I had already arranged with them directly prior to arrival at their instruction). Staff gave our apartment key & access to our apartment to another guest by mistake. Only realised after I pointed out the apartment they opened for us was the wrong one. Had to wait for previous guests to exit & go to their correct premises. The place was absolutely Filthy! Bathroom hadnt been cleaned at all. Toilet had crap & urine in bowl & over seat. Bathroom sink had soap scum, mould & dust all over it. Kitchen utensils covered in dust & spiderwebs. Crumbs inside fridge & microwave. The mattress was smaller than the bed frame & totally collapsed in the middle. Kept rolling in towards partner all night. Totally stuffed my back on this mattress & was counting down the nights until we could check out. No instruction booklet or info on using TV, fireplace, heating. Asked staff members who said they didnt know & I could ask owner when he came back, but they didnt know when that would be. The only upside was the historical aspect - literally like stepping back in time & the location was perfect.

  : This is an extraordinary little property. On the oldest street in York and a 3-minute walk from the Minster.You collect the keys from the Trembling Madness bar next to the apartments and access the property down a little alley (about one person wide) that leads to a courtyard that is the remains of an even older property, Turn right at the Belfry Hall through a little door into tiny little private courtyard with a BBQ and a fire pit. I didn't use this, but it would be nice to sit out with a drink of an evening. Through a door into a hall with (steep) steps up to the first floor.On the first floor there is an atmospheric little sitting room with an ancient oak floor worn down by hundreds of years of people walking across it. Oak wainscotting and apparently a ghost though it didn't put in an appearance whilst I was staying there. There is also a comfortable double sofa bed. There's functional kitchen off and the breakfast pack (extra) is exceptional.More narrow and steep steps up to the second-floor bedroom. More ancient worn floor, walking across it is a bit like being on the deck of a boat. It has a big, comfortable, four poster bed and a claw foot tub (with shower) in the bedroom. (Don't panic the loo isn't in the bedroom!). The shower is perfectly functional, (be careful to keep the curtain inside the tub), but it's more suited to a luxurious bath.At night there is a sensational view of the Minster from the bedroom window over the rooftops of York. I left the curtains open just so I could enjoy the view from the bed.If you are looking for 'all mod cons' this is not the property for you, I'm sure there is a perfectly nice Premier Inn somewhere in York. If you are looking for something a bit quirky and unusual smack in the middle of old York, you will not be disappointed.Would make an ideal getaway for a romantic weekend for a couple who want to explore York.
  : The was nothing that I didn't like, but you must manage your expectations. This is a medieval property. It has everything you'll need but it's not big or modern. Some things are a bit awkward to use, a low ceiling in the kitchen and the rather cramped shower. (Mind you, I'm not petite!)

  : There could have been instructions for appliances. We knew the steps were steep, but they are more like a ladder. Ok, for teenagers.

  : Really good stay, perfect location. We were on train so got there quite early but the staff let us put our bags in the apartment while they were finishing cleaning it and left the keys with us so we didn't have to go back and get them. Apartment was cool, I expected more noise being in the centre but it was actually pretty quiet. Had everything we needed, there was milk for a cup of tea, extra towels, loo rolls etc. Bed was quite firm but comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen but it had everything there for if you wanted to. Ideal little place, we'd definitely stay again
  : Although the bath in the bedroom is really cool, it's quite awkward to use the shower, but it wasn't impossible, just quite cramped and a little conscious of whether any water splashed over onto the floor with it being a medieval building.
